Although, Design Template 3761 was originally intended for Professional Service organisations, one of our clients, a family run Auto Centre based in Hertfordshire, UK, liked this particular design and was keen to use it for developing their new Website.

Project Overview
Having discussed our client's Website requirements and what they wanted to convey, at least thirty five web pages were identified for the initial Website design. We then looked at each of the seven default page layouts included in the Design Template to determine which ones were the most suitable for each area of the new Website. After reviewing the page layouts, it was decided to develop five new page layouts based on a combination of the original seven.
Page Header and Navigation Menu
Each page within the new Website makes use of the same page header and Navigation Menu. This is developed using Flash™ technology, the preferred solution for Website animation. The changes made were: inserting new business name and slogan; changing the menu options to reflect our clients particular services and industry; and changing the colour from orange to red in the animated drop-down menus. Creating Internal Scrollable Windows
Since the appearance of this particular Template does not lend itself to being lengthened due to background graphics, it was decided to develop areas of the page requiring large text blocks, with scrollable windows. This technique keeps the whole web page in view at all times, as well as giving ample space to include additional text. The above was a customer preference and the design could have been modified quite easily by using more traditional web design techniques. Example Of An Internal Scrolling Window.
Homepage
A large part of the default Homepage design was reused in the live Website. In common with many of the top web designs, it acts as a gateway page to the rest of the site by highlighting some of the key areas. However, there is one major omission; the removal of the Member Sign-in area towards the top right of the design. Since our client did not require a Members area, it was decided the area could be put to better use. For the Homepage, a graphic link to key people within the business was more relevant. Testimonials And Key Staff Pages
Being a family run Auto Centre involved in an Industry where the personal touch is very important, testimonial and key staff pages were developed to give visitors a feel for what type of business they were. For the page design, the Template Event page was used as a starting point and modified to: remove the Members Sign-in area; and to include pictures of clients and key staff. About Us Pages
The About Us, Why Use Us and The Owners pages all used a variation of the design used for the Homepage. The main difference was modifying the bottom window to include a scrollable effect. Throughout the Website, arrow up and down graphics were used to replace the standard scroll bar used in scrollable windows. Apart from freeing up space towards the right of the text, it also utilises the space to the right of the window title i.e. our history in the About Us page. Using arrow graphics with varying speeds is also a nice design touch, making the Website that little more interesting as a whole. Before and after Web Template View
Service Pages
Since our client has household as well as business customers, and since the sales approach will be different for each, we felt it was prudent to split the Service into two distinct areas; one for household customers, the other for business users. We decided to use the Template Service page as a basis for the new design. The modifications included: adding a second label (Testimonials) to the left text window and re-labeling the upper one; removing the bullet graphics from the lower window; replacing all pictures; removing the Members area; removing the text window to the left of the Members area and replacing it with a wider, scrollable window to show content when any of the links on the page are clicked. Directions And Contact Pages
For the above pages, we decided to use a combination of the Template Contact and Support pages. The modifications included: creating Email addresses for each area of the business, making it easier to deal with Emails when they arrive in the Inbox; removing the Members area and replacing it with telephone details; including the option to access a dynamic, on-line map with directions to the business premises; replace all pictures; include a single window for manual road instructions; and modifying the on-line form to include telephone number. In Summary
We hope the above demonstrates how simple it is to modify our Website Templates to meet your exact requirements. In many instances, merely changing the pictures, can give the design a completely different industry feel. If the above was a totally bespoke project, it could easily have run in to thousands of pounds, due to the large amount of design detail required.
